Using proprietary Enlightor, Ambient-Visionaire, and Radiant screen fabrics, they provide a flawless picture quality, finally enabling you to get the best from both your projector and your sound system in any room. The Enlightor materials feature 10 to 100 times more holes per square inch than perforated vinyl screens, can support resolutions past 4K, do not have a minimum seating distance, do not moiré, and do not require you to compensate with EQ. No longer will your theater suffer from having the most critical speaker in the room - the center channel - located near the floor and non-identical to your main channels. Once you become spoiled, you'll never see another home theater the same.
Our new Ambient-Visionaire line of ambient light rejecting screen materials are now available. With billions of nano-mirrors per screen, dithered at the appropriate viewing angle and layered for ambient light absorption from any angle, the Ambient-Visionaire screens cannot sparkle or color shift your image and have been tested and found to be BEST IN CLASS. Finally, our Radiant line of white and gray surfaces reflect a perfectly uniform, color-correct image for dedicated rooms that aren't using an acoustically transparent configuration.
Unlike perforated vinyl screens which are ~90% non-acoustically transparent, all Enlightor screen materials are designed to allow the audio to pass through the screen with an almost inaudible attenuation and no comb filtering or lobing. With vinyl screens (left illustration), most of the sound is reflected backwards, reflecting against the rear wall and back to the rear of the screen with a delay. While the vinyl screen makers require you to use EQ to compensate for their frequency response problems, comb filtering, lobing and reflections caused by their screens cannot be compensated for electronically because the effects are different across different seating angles. With a woven material designed for acoustical transparency (right illustration), the sound waves are diffracted around the threads. The Enlightor-Bright only smoothly absorbs the top octave with a nearly inaudible effect. The Enlightor-Neo has no phase or frequency effect with a completely correctable flat 1.5dB level change, the industry's finest. Our success replacing vinyl screens in mastering studios worldwide reinforces the advancements we're bringing to home and commercial cinema.
Here are summarized reasons to avoid microperfed vinyl screens, all of which are solved by woven technology:
Enlightor-Bright Gain 1.1, Standard fine-weave material for larger screens, grommet screens, or where seating at 12 feet or further. The highest gain woven AT screen material available anywhere, used in the world's most prestigious film production companies. Audio measurements below (88dB is -0dBA)
Enlightor-Neo Gain 1.0, Our premium ultra fine-weave for closer seating. The Enlightor-Neo improved on the previous industry reference standard, Enlightor-4K by having a more matte finish, slightly brighter look, and more acoustically transparent. A -1.5dB flat level change is automatically corrected for via standard level calibrations.
Enlightor-PRO Gain 0.9, Commercial woven AT screen material available seemless in up to 20' tall rolls with grommets installed. Used in film production studios and commercial cinemas for a moire-free image and sound that perforated vinyl just can't do.
Ambient-Visionaire Black Our new black 1.2 and 0.9 gain materials offer the most effective ambient light filtration available in an optical screen. With a deep background that absorbs 90% of ambient light from any direction, and an aggressive combination of carbon particles and stacked, dithered nano-mirrors, you can get a 12x improvement in contrast ratios in environments that are otherwise unsuited to front projection use, even outdoors. This is the smoothest looking A-V material, and used in demo screens for cutting edge projectors.
Our new silver 2.1 and 1.3 gain Ambient-Visionaire™ material offers the latest, most advanced ambient light filtration technology available. We deposit billions of nano-mirrors onto the surface, dithered at the desired viewing angle, and layered so that side light (from any direction) will be absorbed by carbon particles and the substrate. By shrinking the reflective elements down to less than 1/10 the smallest size visible by the human eye, the screen cannot create a discrete sparkle. They are so small and dense, that a 16K resolution pixel would have over 300 mirrors to itself. A 4K pixel would have nearly 5000. With this more efficient method of selectively reflecting the projected image versus ambient light, the screen offers the reference quality color uniformity that Seymour-Screen Excellence is known for without color shift, sparkles or ringing. Topping the screen material is a durable surface that can be wiped down and cleaned with common household cleaners including rubbing alcohol.
The silver 1.3 was reviewed and declared Best in Class from the most experienced reference calibrator in the industry, AccuCal. His test report is here.
Radiant White Our 1.3 gain Radiant White is a hand selected screen surface, lab tested and recommended for optimal viewing performance in a non-AT dedicated room. The screen has a black backing layer integrated into the material to protect against rear wall reflections and maximize contrast.
Radiant Gray Our 0.8 gain Radiant Gray is a screen surface designed for mild ambient light and room color absorption. With a perfectly smooth viewing surface, the screen has a black backing layer integrated into the material to protect against rear wall reflections and maximize contrast.
Ideally, a gain specification should tell you all you need to know about the brightness you'd get from a screen with a given amount of lumens projected on it. Unfortunately, screen manufacturers in general do a terrible job of accurately representing their gain specifications. Therefore, the second job of a gain specification is to inform you of the change in brightness you'd expect in comparison to another screen, in other words how they benchmark to other brands. When benchmarked against competitors, we've found their woven screens measure from 0.69 to 0.95. We are the only screen company that offers both accurate and comparative gain specifications.

Using the slimmest borders in the industry, our TAM 4 constant area screen gives the maximum image and acoustic space into any installation. Starting with the most refined masking system available, we added a second set of retractable acoustically transparent masks while keeping the profile and depth the same. With a native 2.07:1 ratio, the TAM 4 displays the same area for 16:9 as well as 2.40 content giving you the best of all worlds. No longer will you be concerned or feel cheated that the director's choice differed from your screen configuration. By simply activating the motorized masks your TAM 4 gives you the same reference presentation the film was mastered in, without bias to its artistic choice.
Our Reference fixed frame screen with motorized, 2-way lateral masks for a constant height system for any aspect ratio. It provides increased scale for those epic, cinematic films with independently controlled quiet acoustically transparent masks. Uniquely, our motorized masking screens maintain the thin 3.8" profile to increase the available image area and decrease the visible hardware on that most important wall in the room.
The TAM system is also available in a 2-way, constant-width configuration with top and bottom masks. For installations that are width-constrained or shere a simpler, set-and-forget, 16:9 aspect ratio is desired to match the projector.
The TAM system is now available in a 1-way, constant-width configuration with a top mask for an effective yet economical solution. For higher-up installations that are width-constrained or where lens memory or scaling can keep letterboxed images pinned to the bottom.
The new Multi-Format Retractable screen takes our patented, award-winning retractable to the next level. With either a lateral system (two side masks) to display 16:9 while maintaining a constand image height on a 2.37 native screen, or a horizontal system (one top mask) to display 2.40 while maintaining a constant image width on a 16:9 native screen.
Seymour-Screen Excellence's electrically retractable screens are the only retractable screens in the world that feature a fabric velvet border. With multiple times more light-absorbing power, our Infinite Black™ velvet borders perfectly absorb the overscan pixels and frame your image with a sharp, high-contrast edge. Using patented design features, our retractables also feature a stealth Uni-tab™ system, hiding the side tension cables behind the Infinite Black velvet borders so the screens don't have a huge width penalty or hourglass shape. With our industry exclusive velvet, your screen will have additional flexibility in how you frame different aspect ratios, such as 1.85 content on a 16:9 screen, or 2.40 content on a 2.37 screen.
